Funding for this effort is
divided equally with the City of Tallahassee and the Leon County Board
of County Commissioners. The Leon County Property Appraiser’s Office
participates by providing the parcel maps of the County.
The project is managed by
an Executive Committee whose chair rotates annually. The members are one
City Commissioner (Andrew Gillum), one County Commissioner (Bob Rackleff)
and the Property Appraiser (Bert Hartsfield). It is staffed by the
Interlocal GIS Coordinator. The Committee meets quarterly to review and
institute policy and budget issues and receive project updates.
The technical issues are
managed by a Steering Committee that meets monthly and is chaired by the
GIS Coordinator. This Committee’s main function is to review the
technical implementation of the GIS and review project updates. It also
develops the agenda for the Executive Committee.
The
TLC GIS Coordinator leads a group of professionals (16) which form GIS
Central. GIS Central
provides support services to each of the principal partners.
These services include: system administration, database
management, Internet/Intranet development and support, application
design and support and map analysis expertise.
A larger, user-oriented
body called the GIS Development Team meets monthly to review project
updates, determine user needs, address user issues and/or concerns with
the GIS implementation. This Team has several subgroups that meet
several times a month to address specific items such as landuse,
easements, census, GPS, and addressing. These subgroups analyze issues,
develop solutions, and report back to the Development Team on their
progress/findings during the monthly meetings.
